Hong Kong Air Cargo is stepping into an important milestone with the completion of the AOC Proving Flight after a year and a half assessment by Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (CAD). Flight RH9001 departed Hong Kong for Hanoi, Vietnam at 10:40, arriving Hanoi at 11:46 (Hanoi time). After a 2-hour ground inspection, flight RH9002 returned to Hong Kong, departed at 13:29 and arriving Hong Kong International Airport at 16:20. 
During the proving flight from Hong Kong to Hanoi, Vietnam, Hong Kong Air Cargo has been delivering the highest standard from cargo loading and unloading to every of its checkpoints, fulfilling the requirements set by CAD, the proving flight is another step forward to obtaining the Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) granted by CAD. 
To comply with rules and regulations of Civil Aviation Department, Hong Kong Airlines has set up a special management team a year ago, under the leadership of Mr. Zhong Guo Song, Vice President of the group. The team incorporates the-best-of professionals from pilots, engineers, ground service, strategic planning, finance and administration. They are continuing to build up an even stronger team by recruiting more airline professionals, in the preparation of this new cargo development of the group.

Hong Kong Air Cargo has just been granted the Air Operator’s Certificate from the Civil Aviation Department. This is the first time in 12 years that a new Hong Kong carrier offering scheduled services has been granted the certificate, marking a glorious milestone for Hong Kong’s aviation industry. 
Hong Kong Air Cargo will introduce new aircraft and a series of supporting infrastructure in order to boost its market competitiveness. To further enhance the logistics network where Hong Kong is the hub, the airline plans to deploy B747 or B777 freighter over the next five years, reaching a double-digit fleet size. At the same time, based on the combined needs of the logistics market, the airline will make use of its new capacity to launch Asia routes to Japan and India as well as long-haul routes to Europe and America. Together with its future land transport and maritime shipping services, Hong Kong Air Cargo will gradually build up its own comprehensive sea, land and air Logistics transportation system.
The Hong Kong International Airport is the world’s largest cargo throughput hub airport, handling 4.42 million tons of air cargo throughput in 2015. Hong Kong is able to maintain and develop its position as an international logistics hub thanks to China’s Belt and Road initiative, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Big Bay Area development plan and a series of large-scale transport infrastructure projects like the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, and the 3-runway system at the Hong Kong International Airport. Hong Kong will further cement its position as the gateway and hub of the Pearl River Delta economic zone and continue to serve as the bridgehead for the mainland’s foreign trade and transportation.

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Mr CY Leung said: "The establishment of Hong Kong Air Cargo is an important milestone in the development of Hong Kong's aviation and logistics industries. At the end of this year, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will be completed and, once open, will significantly shorten the time needed to travel between the Hong Kong International Airport and cities on the West Bank of the Pearl River and Guangxi, thereby expanding the Hong Kong air cargo market. To seize the opportunity to develop Hong Kong's aviation leasing business, the Government has submitted to the Legislative Council a draft amendment to the Inland Revenue Ordinance to provide profits tax concessions to eligible aircraft lessors and leasing agents, to promote Hong Kong's offshore aircraft leasing activities in order to enhance Hong Kong's status as an international financial centre and aviation hub."
